William Gacioch

William Gacioch, owner and founder of National Property Management Associates began his career as a stockbroker before venturing out into the world of entrepreneurship and property management in 1965.

Since its inception, William, with the help of his three children, has grown NPMA to become a successful multifamily real estate investment company.

Michael Gacioch

President & Chief Executive Officer

Michael T. Gacioch oversees all operations of National Property Management Associate investments, including the organization’s real estate investments, property management operations and non-real estate investments.  Additional responsibilities include overseeing all acquisitions and dispositions, strategic planning and maintaining key financial relationships.

Having joined NPMA in 1987 Michael has dedicated his career to growing the family business that was started by his father in 1965.  Michael’s 35 years of industry experience and organizational skills allow him to effectively manage and stay connected to multiple facets of the company.  Under his leadership, NPMA’s portfolio has grown to over a billion-dollar company.

His passion and skill for growing sustainable, transformational wealth has allowed him to seize unique acquisitions that create value for the families living there, working there, and for the surrounding communities.  Michael takes pride in the lifelong investments he’s cultivated and the opportunities they’ve created for NPMA’s employees, partners and customers.  Michael’s dedication to valuable growth extends beyond NPMA’s impact to the many charitable endeavors he supports.  Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from St. Lawrence University.

Kathy Hannon

Executive Vice President

As Executive Vice President, Kathy Hannon oversees the HR Department at NPMA and plays an integral role in strategic planning and decision making as the organization grows and evolves. As a member of the senior leadership team, Kathy works across departments to launch initiatives that are critical to the success of NPMA

Kathy joined NPMA in 1994 in the Accounts Payable Department. Prior to her current role she led the company’s Cash Management/Payroll Department.  During this time, she learned the importance of communication, teamwork, and collaboration. Over the course of 28 + years, Kathy has been a major contributor to NPMA’s growth from under 50 employees to over 400 employees, and over 65 properties.

Kathy earned a B.A. from Canisius College with a focus on Business. She lives with her husband Patrick and their six children just south of Buffalo, NY.  When she is not spending time with her family outdoors in the mountains, lakes and sandy beaches; Kathy can be found sharing her love of cooking and baking with her family.

Alan Barnes

Chief Operating Officer

Chief Operating Officer at NPMA, Alan Barnes oversees day to day administrative and operational functions of the company. While the majority of his time is spent supervising the Property Management Department, Alan can be found wearing multiple hats on any given day, whether collaborating with regional managers or diving into site-level matters of any scale.

For 30 years, Alan has played an integral role in NPMA’s growth, bringing 40 years of real estate property management experience in an ever changing landscape to the table. His inherent foresightedness and unique ability to connect with people of all positions on the employment ladder allows him to foster and achieve team-oriented goals.

Alan holds a Property Management Certification from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and a BBA in Management.

Daniel Kersch

Executive Director of Finance and Business Development

Executive Director of Finance and Business Development at NPMA, Daniel Kersch leads acquisitions and dispositions, real estate financing, investments, and strategic planning. His primary responsibilities include managing the company’s real estate portfolio by evaluating strategic fit, financial viability, arranging financing, and negotiating and structuring purchase and sale contracts of acquisition and disposition targets.

Dan joined NPMA in April of 2020, and since then has overseen over 40 real estate transactions totaling approximately $500 million. Prior to joining the team at NPMA, Daniel worked at a financial institution where he developed regional real estate strategy and prioritized investments across 750 locations.

With over 20 years of experience in investment evaluation and strategic planning, Daniel is well positioned to facilitate growth opportunities at NPMA. He has held previous positions at M&T Bank, Delaware North Companies, Inc., and Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation and obtained his MBA from Canisius College.

Debbie McGinnis

Director of Human Resources

Director of Human Resources, Debbie McGinnis oversees all HR functions and staff at NPMA. Since her start at NPMA in May of 2013, Debbie has worked her way from HR Specialist to Director, with a developed skill set in managing people and HR challenges in a manner that upholds company values, policies and procedures.

Debbie’s previous 20+ years of management experience, of which she applies in her role at NPMA, consisted of payroll and benefits administration, employee relations, union contracts and compliance programs.

Debbie holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Houghton College.

Kevin Hawrysiak

Director of Business Technology

Director of Business Technology, Kevin Hawrysiak monitors the technical side of the business to ensure smooth and seamless operations. In his role as Director, he manages the Business Technologies Department and vendor and partner relationships to ensure the solutions his team provides effectively and efficiently support workflows at NPMA.

Since joining the team at NPMA in 2016, Kevin has advanced from System Analyst to Director, with a developed niche in technology and reporting. Prior to NPMA, he spent ten years in various roles in oil and gas development that paralleled many real estate industry implementations.

Kevin holds bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Geology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Michelle Gacioch

Vice President of Accounting

Vice President of Accounting, Michelle Gacioch leads the Account Department, overseeing all accounting functions, from financial analysis and year end processing. Michelle joined the NPMA team in 2001, and has taken on great responsibility in adapting to the company’s immense growth over the years, ensuring the financial duties of each new property are on time and accurate.

Michelle’s integrity and empathetic nature allow her to thrive as a fair and respected leader. Her passion for self growth and improvement is an encouragement to her fellow team members, and demonstrated in her day-to-day challenges and victories.

Michelle received bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from the State University of New York at Buffalo and Business Administration and Accounting master’s degrees from St. Bonaventure University.

Shelley Ehret

Chief Financial Officer

Chief Financial Officer, Shelley Ehret oversees the accounting, cash management, accounts payable and risk management functions at NPMA. She plays a vital role in the company’s strategic initiatives, working with multiple departments to ensure sound financial decisions and actions.

Shelley’s career began in public accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers where she earned her license as a New York State Certified Public Accountant. As an Audit Manager for a local Buffalo, New York CPA firm, she earned an additional license as a Certified Fraud Examiner. While in public practice, Shelley was also a member of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA), American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Buffalo Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).

Prior to joining NPMA in 2013, Shelley served as Vice President of Accounting and Finance at a family owned and operated company with multiple locations in two states, where she gained experience in several business departments, beyond accounting. Shelley was also a co-owner of a retail franchise where she managed all aspects of its daily operations. Shelley’s well-rounded skill set, entrepreneurial drive and ability to wear multiple hats combined with her dedicated work ethic and passionate spirit have earned her great trust and success in her decision making and leadership role.

Shelley holds an AAS in Business Administration from Erie Community College and a BS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Fredonia.

Vic Barberio

Director of Property Management

Director of Property Management, Vic Barberio supervises the regional managers to oversee the daily operations of NPMA properties. He promotes best practices and consistencies while guiding property management operations and strategy as the company grows and the industry evolves.  Vic’s strengths in creative and thorough problem-solving allow him to quickly pivot through the daily demands of NPMA’s growing portfolio.

Vic has worked in the industry for over 31 years and developed expertise in many areas of property management – most notably budgeting, personnel development, creating capital needs programs and oversight, as well as administrative policy and procedures. Vic’s experience spans conventional multifamily, commercial, mixed use, office and affordable multifamily real estate.

Vic received his Property Management Certification from the Institute of Property Management (IREM) in 1998. He served as a Regional Manager for NPMA when he joined the company in 2011, and was promoted to Director of Property Management in 2020.

Nicole Thurman

Director of Policy and Operations

Nicole Thurman, Director of Policy and Operations, has been a driving force in multifamily property management since 1999. Over her 25-year career in Oklahoma, she has held every level of onsite and regional leadership, and has spent the last 12 years at NPMA demonstrating a consistent strength in organization, operational efficiency, and systems knowledge.

Nicole directs and guides operations across all regions, leading the charge on training, technology adoption, and best-practices alignment from the regional and district level down to the site. With a rare combination of operational depth, systems expertise, and a talent for building efficient teams, Nicole is helping redefine what excellence looks like in modern property management. She has served on the board of the Apartment Association of Central Oklahoma and chaired its Legal, Compliance, and PAC Committee, and has been awarded with the Outstanding Dedication and Service Award in 2016, Regional Manager of the Year in 2020,  Multi-Property Supervisor of the Year for Apartment Association of Central Oklahoma in 2021 and The President’s Award in 2022. 

Outside of work, Nicole is a proud mom of two daughters and a granddaughter who values family above all. Nicole stays energized through Pilates, the outdoors, and time by the pool.
